Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: Placeholder — not yet legally reviewed · Draft placeholder
This is a draft placeholder, not a final legal document. It describes the uses StreetCam.ca is designed to prevent by default, and will be expanded following legal review.
Prohibited uses
The following are never permitted on StreetCam.ca, regardless of role:
- Searching for a former partner, neighbour, or celebrity outside a genuine, documented case.
- Tracking political protesters or activity protected by law.
- Targeting individuals based on protected characteristics.
- Commercial advertising, insurance profiling, or employee monitoring outside approved policy.
- Public livestream surveillance or public browsing of the camera map.
- Treating an AI match as an automatic determination of guilt.
- Building a permanent movement profile of a person.
- Unrestricted or facial-identity-based search.
Detection and enforcement
Automated abuse-detection rules flag patterns such as repeated searches for the same subject, searches outside an investigator's normal region, excessively broad search areas, and searches without meaningful case notes. Flagged activity is reviewed by agency and platform administrators. Violations can result in account suspension and, where applicable, referral to the responsible agency.
Reporting misuse
Camera owners can report suspected misuse directly from any request. See Contact for other ways to reach us.
